You, Captain Hero, the world's greatest spy/superhero/ gentleman/all-around great guy, have to go and rescue your robot sidekick, code-named ROBO. ROBO is on a mission to retrieve a secret weapon located in the bowels of an underground military base in the tiny (but nuclear-armed) nation of Vladistachistanenburgistan. But instead of actually finding said weapon, ROBO got itself locked in a high-security government prison. So far, nobody's been able to break into it, but maybe with a little bit of your trademark Captain Hero charm, along with a dash of derring-do, you can break ROBO out of prison. With any luck, the robot can lead you to the weapon and you can save the day once and for all! If it all happens that simply, this is going to be a really short game. But such is the life of Captain Hero! Captain Hero has a gun that he can shoot by pressing the spacebar, but he'll have to find some ammo or buy another gun before he can do that. (Ammo looks like an a with two dots over it. When you shoot, the bullets look kind of like cheerios. Sorry, but them's the breaks when you're playing old-school, text-mode games). Captain Hero doesn't just shoot things, though; he also makes it a point to talk to people and gather information. He might have to talk to some people mutiple times to find out secret information. He talks to people by walking into them. (Then he can break the ice by saying, "Oh, Pardon me," or "I just did that to knock you out of the way of a bullet." It works wonders with the ladies!) Vladistachinstanenburgistan has kind of a backwards currency system: everything here is purchased with gems. You can collect them and use them in vending machines or as bribes or whatever. Or you can just stare at their pretty colors. Captain Hero loves pretty colors. Also, Captain Hero would be wise to save his game by pressing S. He can restore it by exiting to the title screen and pressing R. Anyway, he probably should get to doing something now. That looks like the master door switch over there.
